Human Resources – Accounting Assistant (Grand Rapids)

This position has responsibilities for performing a variety of HR, payroll and accounting duties.  The candidate must be an extremely organized, highly self-motivated individual who can manage their workload and prioritize tasks.

Essential Requirements

  • Prepares and processes payroll
  • Responds to internal and external Human Resources related inquiries or requests
  • Maintains mandatory HR records
  • Relays basic policy information and resolves routine benefits and policy questions to assist employees
  • Assists with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, interviewing and performing reference checks, on-boarding and conducts first stage of employee orientation
  • Administers human resources related programs and assists in coordinating company events
  • Assists with accounting functions or other miscellaneous projects
  • Works with all levels of management and staff

Education / Experience / Competency

  • Minimum 2 years of HR experience or an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent)
  • Prior payroll experience required, Paycom or similar software preferred
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work in an organized manner
  • Strong knowledge of hiring processes, HR best practices and local labor laws/regulations
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely manner in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong attention to details and problem-solving skills
  • Strong, professional-level verbal and written communications and follow-through skills
  • Experience exercising extreme discretion and confidentiality with sensitive employee, financial, and corporate information
  • Prior accounting experience a plus
